As a Latina, I was more than thrilled to hear that Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, more commonly known as ‘Bad Bunny’, is going to be the halftime show performer for this year’s Super Bowl. A collaborative Instagram post with the NFL (National Football League), Apple Music, Roc Nation, and Bad Bunny was made on September 28th, 2025. The post said that Bad Bunny was the official performer of the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.
In case you didn’t know, the Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the NFL. The Super Bowl is always determined by the winners of the playoffs. The champions of the National Football Conference (NFC) and the National Football League (NFL) play against each other. While the teams that are playing in this year’s Super Bowl haven’t been determined, the stadium in which they’ll play is the Levi’s Stadium.
Ever since the first Super Bowl in 1967, there has always been a halftime show performer. Past performers include artists from various genres of music. Genres like rap, pop, rock, hip-hop, and R&B. For the 60th Super Bowl ever, the performer will be Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny has released several music albums. He brought reggaeton and trap music to a larger audience and has since then been crowned “the king of Latin trap.”
There’s no denying that Bad Bunny is a phenomenal choice for this year’s Super Bowl halftime performance. Over the years, his music has evolved so much– reaching many audiences. His most recent album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (DTMF) was met with great success. DTMF was released on January 5th, 2025. There were all kinds of music featured in this album like emotional songs, songs that make you never want to stop dancing, and songs that highlight the history, beauty, and musical stylings of Puerto Rico.
Recently, Bad Bunny has refused to have any type of concert in the United States because of the possibility of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement raiding his concerts. So, Bad Bunny recently announcing that he will be the halftime show performer of the Super Bowl is huge. Everyone should stay tuned in because there is no doubt that Bad Bunny won’t make a statement.
