On April 29th, 2025, the OHS Orchestras and Bands had their spring concert. Nicholas Feigenbaum and Rodrigo Vargas directed the concert. Together, the orchestras and bands played a total of 17 pieces. For the finale, the bands and orchestras united to play six movements from Star Wars.
For the concert’s opening, the Woodwind Quintet performed Allegro Molto by W. A. Mozart. The quintet featured Nathalia Santacruz, Jason Bottone, Tyrzah Mkwandawire, Frank Murphy II, and Christopher Grant. The concert then went on with the regular orchestra, and they performed two pieces. The pieces were Moonlit Skies by Sean O’Loughlin and Ancient Wonders Suite Movement 1 – Temple of Artemis by Todd Parish. Following that was the symphonic band. They played Prelude and Passages by Ronald Barrett and Metrodance by Randall D. Standridge.
After the symphonic band, the chamber orchestra took the stage and performed 3 pieces. They started with Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K. Movement 1 – Allegro by W.A. Mozart. Their second performance was Symphonie No. 1 in G Major, Opus 11, Movement 1 – Allegro by Joseph Bologne. Their final piece was Orange Moon by Yukiko Nishimura. Following the chamber orchestra was the wind ensemble. They played 3 pieces. They started with Energetikos by Gary P. Gilroy, then played This Cruel Moon by John Mackey. Their final piece was Jupiter the Bringer of Jollity by Gustav Holst.
As the concert’s finale, the orchestras and bands combined to play six movements from Star Wars. They played Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, Revenge of the Sith, Princess Leia’s Theme, Imperial March, and Main Title, all by John Williams.
Congratulations to all the seniors who performed their last ever spring concert. Seniors from the chamber orchestra are Daniel Go, Austin Juan, Jordan Para, Jahaira Cuzo, Alicia Torres, Reese Caparelli, Sofia Soares, Jason Merino, Sakeisha Brown, Massimo Giambona, Mia-Vasiliki Wilkins, and Sabrina Hsieh. Seniors from the wind ensemble are Chris Arcinas, Nathalia Santacruz, Alexa Klainbard, Haylli Yunga, Kimberly Huanga, Julian Mooney, Riley Lemire, Christopher Grant, Jonathan Kang, Paxton Gearity, Anna Bomwell, and Miles Cauthen.
