Powder Puff Predictions And An Unexpected Triumph

Paola Sosa, Staff Writer

Powder Puff, a football game between the junior and senior girls, is an annual event that takes place on OHS Day. The winning team gets to claim to be the better grade and the rivalry between these two grades is one for the ages. I asked a handful of students and teachers who they think is going to win and why.

Officials:

-Mr. Wheeler: “The team who wins is the team whose coaches that can stay out of the the way the best.”

-Mr. Ninos: “It’ll be the team that gives their all.”

2016:

-Robert Jones: “It’s going to be a good game and all the players are working hard and doing their best.”

-Kyle Cristello: “The juniors are going to win because they have the most speed.”

-Grace Scorcia: “I think it will be an intense game and the seniors have a large group of athletic girls, but the juniors shouldn’t be underestimated.”

2015:

-Dan Rivie: “The seniors will win because they have the most athletic team, and I gotta back up my girls.”

-AJ Otero: “The seniors because they are the most athletic. It’s going to be a good game.”

-Madison Strippoli: “The seniors are going to win because they have the most experienced athletes.”

It seems that a lot of people have high hopes that the seniors are going to win this game. I’m sure that both teams are going to do their best and bring their all, as both teams have a high chance of winning. We’ll get to see which predictions were correct on OHS Day and good luck to all the girls who are playing.

*On OHS Day, the junior girls came out weak in the first half as their offense was virtually non-existent, and defense kept them in the game, and resulte din a seniors lead of 8-0. However, as the second half progressed the seniors maintained their aggressive offensive drive, but could not beat the juniors’ offensive outbreak. Ultimately, the juniors claimed the Powder Puff victory with a final score of 14-8.*
