The 2013 Fall sports season has reached its midway point. Some of Ossining’s teams have prospered this season, while others have a long road of rebuilding ahead of them. The season is nowhere near over, due to the fact that many of Ossining’s teams are on track to securing a playoff spot in their respected sport. The week of October 7th marks a very crucial week in Ossining sports, for it is the week of Homecoming. The Current  and it’s staff has put together a list of important statistics that give some quick details about Ossining’s teams.

Girls Soccer

Record: 3 wins, 6 losses

Last Game’s Result- Loss to Bronxville, 3-0

Next Game-October 9th vs. Pleasantville

Captains- Abigail Squirrel, Lizette Boehling, Anne Scorcia

The Current’s analysis: This team may have a losing record, but it is relatively young. This team is mostly consisted of underclassmen, allowing The Current to believed that it has a bright future.

Boys Soccer

Record: N/A

Last Game’s Result: Win vs. Croton, 1-0

Next Game: Pleasantville, week of 10/7

Captains: Sergio Matia, Dario Hernandez, Alejandro Alvarez, Demetrious Moyla

The Current’s analysis: This team has a lot of talent, however they have yet to convert this raw talent into wins. The team still has a chance to make the sectionals, however it must work hard to get there.

Football

Record: 4 win, 1 loss

Last Game’s Result: Win vs. Port Chester, 38-6

Next Game: October 11th, vs. Nyack (Homecoming)

Captains: Justin Davidov, Griffin Gallagher, Steven Orts, Michael O’Connor

The Current’s analysis: This team is very strong both offensively and defensively. It is clear that QB Justin Davidov works well with his running and receiving corps. The only concern is that Rye shut down the Pride in their only loss, winning by 44 points. This team has the potential to go deep into the playoffs, however it is unclear if they can beat Rye if they meet in the playoffs. This team is full of veterans, most of whom are hungry for a piece of the playoffs.

Field Hockey

Record: 3 wins, 2 losses, 5 ties

Last Game’s Result: Win vs. Valhalla, 2-1

Next Game: October 7th, vs. Briarcliff

Captains: Abby Kamen, Alyson Winter, Sam Tighe, Olivia Adams

The Current’s analysis: This team is energetic and vibrant. This team consists of many veteran seniors that play the game well. It is clear that this team works hard every game, due to the fact that they only have two losses in 10 games. Monday’s game should be very interesting, considering the fact it is against Neighboring Briarcliff.
