One. Android One. Google’s Android One: primed and ready to annihilate the competition.

Google’s latest phone, the Android One, priced at $105, is cheaper than many of the other mainstream products. It’s mission? It’s simple really—to position itself into low-income communities, where it’s common for residents to be unable to afford a brand new iPhone, Samsung, or Android at full price.

Some of the cool new things about Google’s new phone is that it allows for the company to update the device’s software with the click of a button, prompting quick and easy fixes–and, most importantly, without interrupting the smartphone owner’s service. It is predicted that the new smartphone will flourish in the wireless market by providing great service at extremely low prices that will attract consumers and benefit Google. Furthermore, the Android One platform is already being sold in India, allowing almost 900 million people to upgrade their average flip phones to high speed Google Smartphones. Just take some of the early-on thoughts from Bhasker Canagaradjou, Associate Director at Ipsos (global marketing research company) business consulting in India. He said, “For Google, a strong uptake of Android One smartphones should increase the access to the Internet and Google’s suite of products.”

But the plans are even bigger: after the Google Android One platform phone is released and sold in India, Google plans on bringing the device around the world to other

emerging markets. The multi-billion dollar company hopes to bring the same success of the smartphone in India, to the Middle East and other countries in South Asia. As the Google Android One platform expands Google plans on adding 6 new languages that will match the next countries the smartphone is released in. It appears that Google is “the one to watch,”

in this technological war to stay relevant.
