During the day, the Freddy Fazbear’s animatronics perform shows for children. At night they’re not so friendly.

Recently, the famous Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) series has made a huge step. The famous FNAF series is a popular horror game series, with three games were released in a single year. In summary, you, the player, must survive 5 nights at a Chuck E. Cheese’s like restaurant with secret 6th and 7th nights to for those especially interested. The restaurant has 4 (with a secret 5th) animatronics that are programmed to walk around at night, but mysteriously target the player. You must sit in your office, watch the animatronics move throughout the pizzeria through your cameras, and close your office doors when necessary. Provided by small details, such as newspaper clippings, the player begins to realize the pizzeria’s dark lore in which five children were lured into a back room by someone, and murdered. They turn out to haunt the animatronic suits in which they were stuffed in, eventually causing the restaurant to shut down due to health regulations. The addition of a second and third game made the story even more convoluted and creepy, adding new facts and ideas.

As an increasing number of people found interest in this odd lore, Warner Bros has confirmed that they are in production for a FNAF movie. The producers will be Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg. Adam Stone and Jay Ireland will executively produce, and Jon Berg alongside Nik Mavinkurve are overseeing Warner Bros. As of now, the movie is asking writers to submit ideas and scripts. However today, there is no official release date, or actor list. Scott Cawthon, the game developer for all three FNAF games, will also be contributing to the movie’s production, but his specific role is unknown. With such loose information many people estimate it will come out in 2017.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the games, who joyfully played all three games, and am able to express this exciting breakthrough. Despite the games’ acclamation, there were debates about whether the movie will be good or not. Video game movies do end up being really disappointing, but all supporters of FNAF hope that doesn’t happen. However the FNAFs dense storyline provides the movie with so much good material that it appears almost impossible for it to be bad. As of yet, it is not known what aspects of the games will be integrated into the movie. Questions include whether it will be based off solely the first game, or incorporate them all. It could also be about a different restaurant, not being based off of any of the current games.

Furthermore, Scott Cawthon announced the addition of a 4th game, bringing fans to wonder where else this franchise will expand, or in fact, close. As Cawthon referenced the fourth game, “The Final Chapter”, it may truly be the last game, in which all questions and theories are laid to rest. But with the introduction of the movie, who knows where it could go? With such an accelerating growth, all players and fans can hope for, for now, is that is doesn’t disappoint.
