Many of us, when asked what we would want if we got one wish, would ask for money or fame. But when Miles Scott, a five-year-old leukemia patient, was asked this same question, he replied that he would like to become “Batkid” for a day, because Batman is his favorite superhero.  After a long battle against his worst nemesis yet, Leukemia, Miles went into remission, and was able to achieve his dream of becoming a superhero, thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Miles’ mission started when he received a video message asking for the help of Batkid by the Chief of Police in San Francisco. The whole city played along as Miles dressed up in costume and defeated Batman’s worst enemies, The Riddler and The Penguin. With the support of the real men behind the mask, Hollywood’s Michael Keaton, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck as well as that of President Obama and other political figures, Batkid has officially gone viral. A generous Lamborghini owner even allowed Miles to use his car as a bat mobile. After diffusing a bomb, saving a damsel in distress, and stopping the villains, Miles was awarded a key to the city by the mayor of San Fransisco, Edwin M. Lee. Miles had the support of the whole city as his dream came true, and was able to capture the bad guys, as well as the hearts of many. With the help of thousands of volunteers, Miles has showed us that there is a little heroism in all of us.
