The concept of living life outside of Earth have caused confusion and splits in the human population. It has been heavily augmented by both believers and disbelievers of this ideology.

A poll dating all the way back to 1997 from CNN/Time, found that 80% of Americans actually believe that the government is hiding classified information on extraterrestrial life. Americans have often referred to this extraterrestrial life as aliens and has also been depicted in various movies and shows within American culture.

Retired Commander David Fravor, who previously worked in the pentagon reported an unknown flying object, implying it’s possibility and even emphasized his beliefs in living life out of Earth. The former head of the pentagon’s Department of Defense, Luis Elizondo have also expressed his belief in the existence of living life out of Earth.

There have been government funded programs and projects that have looked into and investigated UFO reported sighting. An estimated 22 million dollars at the least, have been spent on investigating these claimed sightings.

These projects includes:

Project Blue Book: This U.S government program had the air force look into an approximate amount of 12,500 sightings and about 700 were labeled unidentified. However, this project concluded with a statement implying that none of the UFO sightings that they investigated into implicated any threat to national security. This project was later shut down in 1969 due to lack of funds.

Area 51: There has been long speculation on what this region actually holds, with thoughts that it actually held alien bodies and UFOs, making it the center of alien activity. These presumed claims on Area 51 have caused it to become highlighted in may movies and shows in the pop culture. However, it was actually a military site that was used to test many weapons and new military technologies.
