Cross Country: The OHS cross country team hit the ground running in September, coming out of a strong preseason camp to place well in all of its meets thus far. The team has been guided by new coach Ken Torricella, a former All-American runner at Iona College, and father of co-captain Angela Torricella. At the Dan Purdy Invitational, co-captain Patrick Saint Ange won the boy’s varsity race, and members of the boy’s varsity, boy’s junior varsity, and girl’s varsity teams medalled. (Medals are given to the top 25 finishers.) OHS had an impressive showing at the White Plains Invitational as well, where all of the girl’s team were in the top 22 finishers, and co-captain Angela Torricella won her race by over a 1:30 margin.

Field Hockey: The OHS varsity field hockey team has been off to a strong start of the 2017 season, led by new coach and OHS alumnus Katie Poleski. They are 1-2-3, and are pushing hard for more wins under the leadership of captains Alyssa Aurora and Sofia Japal.

Football: The OHS football team recovered from a shaky start to go 2-3 in September. Both of its wins have been at home, with one victory over Ketcham and one over Spring Valley. Ossining is currently in third place in the Section 1 AA Central football standings, with senior James Sanchez leading the league in total touchdowns, as well as receiving yards.

Girl’s Swimming: In one of the most difficult leagues in Section 1, the OHS girl’s swim team has made a splash this fall with their 2-1 record. Led by captains Melanie Lattin, Ruth Boehling, and Emma San Martin, as well as standout juniors Mary Nichols, Tara Tassio, and Samantha Novo, the team is on track to have yet another dominant season.

Girl’s Tennis: The girl’s tennis team – led by coach Steve Burke – has had but one league match in September, but they made it count, defeating East Ramapo.

Soccer: The girl’s varsity soccer team went 0-1-6 in September. After many of their starters from the 2016 season graduated in September, many younger players have taken up the mantle of leadership, and are working hard for their first win. The boy’s varsity team has also had a successful September under Coaches Jesse Nunes and Joe Scamarone, both physical education teachers at OHS.

Volleyball:  Looking to have another sectional tournament run, the OHS volleyball has been off to a strong start. Dominant in league play, they top the conference 1-D standings, and have a 4-4-1 record overall.
