Class Of 2018 Semi Formal
April 12, 2017
On April 6, 2017, the Junior Class of 2018 danced the night away at their Semi Formal which took place at LIFE The Place To Be, a venue located in Ardsley, New York. The Junior Semi Formal began with students preparing for their night promptly after school, that meant getting dressed and taking pictures with their dates and friends. As it poured and thundered, the weather seemed dull throughout the day on the last Thursday before Spring Break. However, the day would lighten up as the Class of 2018 mounted the buses and headed to revel in their Junior Semi Formal that Thursday night.
Both students and chaperones arrived at Ossining High School around 5:45pm with umbrellas and coats, cautious of the wet weather that came upon their evening. The sun surprised the students as they each exited the school to mount one of the 4 buses that each had a 50 person capacity. Over 170 students overall would attend the Junior Semi Formal with the company of teacher chaperones that filled up the remaining seats on the coach buses. The festivity began promptly at 7pm, the time buses arrived at the venue. The night began with appetizers at the entrance while students gladly awaited as dates and friends took their picture and while others hanged their coats in a supervised coatroom. Once the curtains of the entrance of the party room opened, students ran to their tables anticipating a jam that would lead to crowding of the dance floor.
The students danced the night away with songs of a variety of music genres including pop and rap music. Students posed for the camera as Mr Quiroga, one of Ossining High School’s photo teachers, photographed the event. Students got a break from the festivity as they lined up to dine on a meal catered by the LIFE staff that consisted of pasta, chicken parmesan, salad, and more. A soda bar located in the venue served water and a variety of sodas to the students as they wished. The venue was aesthetically decorated with black and white themed tables along with centerpieces with lighted candles. Ceiling ball decorations, white couches, a stage, and intense blue lighting filled the venue and created a festive environment in which students enjoyed their night. Students even got the chance to celebrate with Principal Mr. Mandel as this was his last year at OHS and his last time accompanying OHS’s Junior Semi Formal. Ice cream was served to students by the LIFE Staff after dinner as the festivity came to an end. Students mounted back on their buses around 11pm to head back to Ossining High School where some would continue the celebration afterwards, however most went home to get rest on this school night. Ossining High School’s Class of 2018 left Thursday night with the memory of an incredibly delightful Semi Formal.
