Tuning In To Politics

The American elections have monopolized the airwaves internationally. Just as recently as this week the newspaper headlines have been boldly printed with one person in particular…let’s just say the one who shall not be named. And no it’s not Voldemort but to some, it may be a close equivalent. For about 6 months leading up to the presidential election there has been a strong light shining on the Republican candidate, Donald Trump. A good example of this light is this article.

Having just recently won three caucasus’  in a row Trump leads with 33.6% in Republican polls, dominating the field against close runner up’s Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Whilst all of the presidential banter is in full swing it seems the American public is giving only him their full attention and bypassing all of the other candidates and their potential.

It is understandable that he occasionally has good points on what he would like to do but, it is evident he is the only subject of presidential conversation. With snide comments, offensive remarks, and petty jabs his campaign seems a little bit like his former television show, The Apprentice. The main question of this political conversation is, is America becoming a reality show? With the typical back and forth banter, the shouting, and the revolution of one main character or person on the show it seems the country is leaning that way.
Although Trump is the hot topic of the 2016 Presidential Election, based on his past history it seems that this might not completely be a good thing. Since 1991, according to the Huffington Post and TIME Magazine Trump has filed for bankruptcy four times as well as had numerous failed businesses.  And according to Google, Trump is in his third marriage. What does this say about the future of America? To some it screams a large spike in national debt, increased taxes, a decrease in international relations, a contradicting politician, and a bored president while others might see a persistent president, who knows how to handle America’s economy and keep the country’s citizens involved. Who knows who might win this presidential debate but, it is ensured that the nation’s viewers will be tuned in for the next episode of the 2016 Presidential Campaign.
