Know what to see before you go to the movies or decide to rent a new release, find out about a selection of these summer/fall 2016 movies below:

Sully

I did not consider myself one for documentaries, but after watching Sully, starring Tom Hanks, I reconsidered that thought. The stunning cinematography and subtle humor gives the movie an air of sophistication, but remains relate-able and entertaining. The movie explores the little known controversy over the heroic Hudson River landing. We’ve all heard about it; Pilot “Sully” Sullenberger landed a plane in the Hudson river after both engines failed. So many lives were at stake during that fateful day, if returning to JFK was less risky, should Sully have returned to the airport? Watch the movie to find out. A-

The Secret Life of Pets

If you like movies that are fun, heartwarming, familiar, and inevitably comical, The Secret Life of Pets is perfect for you. It follows the story of an adopted pet by the name of Max (Louis C.K.), a spoiled terrier who enjoys a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner adopts Duke, a giant dog who pushed Max off of his cushy throne. In efforts to maintain his status as top dog, Max tries to intimidate Duke. But, in the process, they get into some trouble with other animals of the city. This movie isn’t serious, so I highly recommend going to see it if you want to go see a fun movie with a friend during some spare time of the weekend. B+
